DEALINGS BY SUBSTANTIAL SHAREHOLDERS

Geest PLC was notified on Friday 29 August 2003, pursuant to Section 198 of the
Companies Act 1985, that AXA Investment Managers UK Limited and its direct and
indirect subsidiaries now have discretion to exercise voting rights in respect
of 5,431,568 ordinary shares in Geest PLC representing 7.24% per cent of the
issued share capital.

The holdings include shares notified previously and represent the current total
