            Ormonde announces appointment of Non-Executive Director

The Board of Ormonde Mining plc ("Ormonde" or "the Company") is pleased to
announce that Mr. Andrew R. McM. Bell, MA, LLB, has joined the Board as a
Non-Executive Director with immediate effect. Mr Bell has been involved with the
mining industry since the 1970s, as an investment analyst specialising in the
industry, a unit trust manager, an investment banker, and as an investor and
financier. Now based in London, Mr Bell has wide international experience, which
includes arranging the finance for European and southeast Asian mining projects.
Mr Bell is an executive director of St Istvan Gold plc, a London based gold
mining company operating in Hungary.

Mr. Bell provided considerable assistance to Ormonde during the recent fund
raising in London. The Directors consider that the addition to the Board of Mr.
Bell's extensive financial and mining experience and, in particular, his
knowledge of the London market, will add considerably to the Company's ability
to expand its acquisition and development activities.
