On 17 October 2003 MITIE received notification that Prudential plc has a
notifiable interest in 15,275,915 Ordinary Shares of 2.5p each in MITIE ("MITIE
Shares"), which represents 4.94% of the issued share capital of MITIE.  Of this
holding, 13,072,748 MITIE Shares (4.22%) are held by Prudential plc's subsidiary
The Prudential Assurance Company Limited.
