APPOINTMENT OF MATTHEW CLARKE AS FINANCE DIRECTOR

Trio Holdings plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Clarke (aged
38) as Finance Director with effect from 20 January 2004.  John Thomson, the
incumbent Finance Director, remains an Executive Director and Company Secretary.

Matthew Clarke, a chartered accountant, has been employed in the Trio group
since April 1997 as Finance Director of its main broking subsidiaries.  Prior to
that he spent several years at Deloitte & Touche.

David Hagan, Chairman of Trio Holdings said "We are delighted to welcome Matthew
to the Board.  He has considerable experience and expertise, which will benefit
the group as we develop our business."

Mr Clarke has not held directorships in any other publicly quoted company at any
time in the last five years.  No information is required to be disclosed under
paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.  Matthew Clarke is not related
to any Director of the Company.
