AIM RELEASE

KIMBERLEY DIAMOND COMPANY NL (the Company) (AIM: KDC)
GEM DIAMONDS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD (Gem) TAKEOVER BID FOR THE COMPANY

Gem, in accordance with the provisions of the Corporations Act 2001, has served
on the Company:

1. a copy of the Gem's Option Bidder's Statement which contains the terms of
the offer for all the options in the Company with exercise prices above A$0.70;

2. a copy of Gem's Third Supplementary Bidder's Statement;

3. a Form 604 - notice of change of interests of substantial holder. Gem's
holding in the Company has increased to 23.80% being 102,121,861 ordinary fully
paid shares. This holding excludes further shares which are subject to the
Acceptance Facility established by Gem.
