                         Exploration Update

                          19 December 2007

 Highlights

- - Rapid progress on resource extension drilling at Komana West;

- - First drillhole at Komana East obtained structural and geological
data ahead of extensive drilling programme planned for early 2008;

- - Major airborne magnetic and radiometric survey covering all five of
the licences in both the Sankarani and Yanfolila Projects in
southern Mali has been commissioned, and;

- - RAB drilling is currently underway on the Bokoro Licence.

Komana West Deposit

Glencar Mining plc ("Glencar" or "the Company"), the AIM and IEX
listed company with gold exploration interests in Africa, is pleased
to announce that the drilling programme being carried out at its
Komana West project in southern Mali, is progressing well. A total
of almost 4,000 metres of reverse circulation and diamond drilling
has already been completed and an additional 5,800 metres of Rotary
Air Blast drilling (RAB) has been completed around the Komana West
target. The reverse circulation and diamond drilling is designed to
test the Komana West deposit at deeper levels than heretofore and
also to explore areas marginal to the zone within which the recent
preliminary independent resource estimate was calculated. Some
infill drilling has also been carried out in parts of the resource
model area where previous drilling density was inadequate. The
purpose of the RAB drilling programme is to explore for extensions,
both north and south of the known Komana West deposit which will then
be followed up with reverse circulation drilling.

One diamond cored borehole has also been carried out at the Komana
East target, some 7 kilometres to the east of the Komana West
deposit. This hole was drilled to obtain structural and geological
data which will assist in the design of the more extensive drilling
programme planned for the Komana East target during the first quarter
of 2008.

Assay results are currently awaited for more than 4,000 samples which
have been submitted to the laboratory to date. The laboratory has
suffered some delays due to plant unavailability and other factors.
We are hopeful that we will have sufficient assay results returned to
enable us to make an interim announcement of drilling results by the
end of January 2008.

Sankarani Project

RAB drilling is currently being carried out for geochemical purposes
on the Bokoro Licence within the Sankarani Project, the joint venture
with a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited which covers three licences
in southern Mali. A major airborne magnetic and radiometric survey
covering all five of the licences in both the Sankarani and
Yanfolila projects in southern Mali has been commissioned. This
detailed survey, with flight lines at 100 metre spacing and survey
flying height at 60 metres, is anticipated to commence on 14th
January 2008 and is expected to give rise to new drilling targets
within the five licences.
