    Statement - clarificatory announcement 

    The Board of Dobbies Garden Centres plc ("Dobbies" or the "Company") notes today's press reporting in relation to the application to
court by West Coast Capital (Lios) Limited ("WCC") seeking an interim order to block the Company's proposed open offer to shareholders (the
"Open Offer"). In particular the Board notes that some press reports refer to the court being asked to order Tesco Holdings Limited ("Tesco
Holdings"), the holder of approximately 65.5% of the Company's shares, to buy WCC's shareholding in the Company.
    The Board wishes to clarify that at this stage the court is only considering whether or not to make an order to block the Open Offer.
The court is not considering whether or not to make an order that Tesco Holdings buys WCC's shareholding in the Company.
    The court's decision in respect of the Open Offer is expected on or before Thursday 15 May 2008.
