    Purchase of �22,118,000 million 9.00 per cent. Callable Subordinated Notes due 2015
    ISIN: XS0233803153

    The Company announces that a total of �22,118,000 million principal amount of the 9.00 per cent. Callable Subordinated Notes due 2015
(the "Notes") issued by it, representing approximately 17.69 per cent. of the total issued principal amount, was purchased on 9 January 2009
by Investec Gresham Limited, another member of the Investec group. 

    All purchased Notes will be retained in the Investec group or subsequently capitalised. In the event of any subsequent capitalisation,
the Notes will be cancelled.
