Heineken Holding NV (HEIO.AE) said Thursday that it has entered the Ecuadorian beer market through the acquisition of a majority stake in Biela y Bebidas del Ecuador SA for an undisclosed sum.

The Dutch brewer said it bought the stake from a group of mainly local investors.

The company said it intends to market its portfolio of brands, including the Heineken label, in Ecuador in the future. Heineken also plans to brew its namesake beer brand locally in due course, it said.
