ATA Group Plc Appoints Karl Chapman a Non-Executive Director


ATA Group plc ("ATA" or "the Company") announces the appointment, with
immediate effect, of Karl Edward Kevin Thomas Chapman as a Non-Executive
Director.

Karl, a 39 year old law graduate, is currently Executive Chairman of
AdviserPlus, a software and IT services company, and Non-Executive Chairman of
Network Inference, a joint venture with the University of Manchester, which is
a leader in the field of knowledge representation, description logics and
reasoning services.

Prior to this Karl founded CRT Group plc (since renamed Spring Group plc) in
1989. When he retired as Chief Executive of Spring in May 2000 the Group was
capitalised at more than #250 million, employed in excess of 2,500 people and
operated from over 200 locations. Throughout this period Spring was a leading
player in the recruitment and training markets in the UK.

Bill Douie, Chairman of ATA Group plc, commented "Over the last few years we
