Luna Innovations Incorporated (NASDAQ: LUNA) today announced
that the company has been fully accredited as a Trusted Integrated
Circuit Supplier through its Secure Computing and Communications
(SCC) group.
As a trusted supplier, accredited by the Defense
Microelectronics Activity (DMEA), an organization within the U.S.
Department of Defense, Luna is certified as a trustworthy design
service provider at a time when the global integrated circuit
supply chain is dominated by foreign sources and as demand grows
for high-performance, application-specific integrated circuits used
by military and national security agencies.
The accreditation program is part of Department of Defense’s
strategy to ensure that electronic components used in U.S. military
and national security applications keep defense microelectronic
systems trusted, safe and mission ready. The service that Luna
provides is related to unique trust technologies developed by SCC
to verify FPGA (field programmable gate array) designs and
devices.
“The Department of Defense has determined that Luna can be
trusted to perform integrated circuit design services that help
ensure critical government systems maintain the highest level of
assurance and integrity,” said Barry Polakowski, vice president of
SCC. “This accreditation demonstrates that SCC is committed to
preventing problems involving the globalization of the
microelectronic integrated circuit supply chain.”
Luna was accredited to Trusted Category 1A, which meets Mission
Assurance Category 1, a level that requires the most stringent
protection measures.
“This prestigious accreditation is an important step in our
ongoing efforts to be the leading choice for ensuring the integrity
of integrated circuits used in defense systems,” said Luna CEO My
Chung.
The company has developed technology that uses reverse
engineering of FPGA bitstream files to ensure design trust, enable
high-reliability verification, and migrate designs from obsolete
parts to new integrated circuits. Luna is currently offering Trust
Services to Department of Defense organizations and contractors who
wish to validate trust in their digital designs or to recover
designs from obsolete parts to retarget them to modern
microelectronic devices.
