Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), the largest rural
lifestyle retailer in the United States, issued its fifth annual
stewardship tear sheet, which includes performance highlights and
progress made through 2023 on its sustainability priorities.
“Stewardship and the preservation of land and resources are an
important part of our way of life here at Tractor Supply. Living
close to the land, cultivating and growing, caring for pets and
animals and embracing self-reliance and independence are key
components of Life Out Here,” said Hal Lawton, president and chief
executive officer at Tractor Supply. “Through our day-to-day
operations and decisions as a company, Tractor Supply remains
steadfast in its commitment to preserving Life Out Here for future
generations. We’ve set ambitious stewardship goals and are excited
to share the great progress we have made toward achieving them over
the past year, thanks to the efforts of our team.”
Highlights of Tractor Supply’s 2023 Stewards of Life Out Here
Tear Sheet include:
- Announced commitment to set a science-based target to reduce
carbon emissions, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative
(SBTi). Tractor Supply is in the process of developing a
science-based target, which will be submitted to and approved by
SBTi.
- Made significant progress toward its ambitious three-year water
conservation goal to conserve 25 million gallons of water by 2025.
In the last two years, Tractor Supply has planted approximately
68,000 trees, restored over 470 acres of riverbank landscape and
conserved more than 10 million gallons of water through
partnerships with Ducks Unlimited and Trout Unlimited.
- Opened its first distribution center built to LEED Gold®
certification standards and completed construction on another built
to these exacting standards. Combined, these two distribution
centers comprise more than 2.1 million enclosed square feet and are
capable of offsetting 100% of electricity requirements with
renewable energy.
- Donated nearly $16 million to community organizations through
direct giving, sponsorships, fundraisers and more. Tractor Supply
welcomed its first class of FFA Future Leaders scholars as part of
the Tractor Supply Foundation’s five-year, $5 million commitment,
representing the largest agricultural scholarship of its kind.
Earth Week Activities
In celebration of Earth Week, Tractor Supply invited its Store
Support Center (SSC) Team Members in Brentwood, Tennessee to
participate in activities that support the company’s sustainability
goals while lifting up local, regional and national nonprofit
organizations. Activities included:
- Enhancing Trout Unlimited’s “Plant for our Future” campaign by
planting 200 trees at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm that will help
prevent stormwater runoff and sequester carbon dioxide.
- Planting and preparing soil for spring at Cul2vate’s eight
acres of farmland.
- Joining the Tennessee Environmental Council in its effort to
clear invasive plant species at the company’s SSC.
These initiatives follow the installation of six new EV charging
stations at the SSC, underscoring the company’s commitment to
reducing its carbon footprint.
