CHICAGO, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hartmarx Corporation (NYSE:HMX) today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized a new share repurchase program to acquire up to 3 million of the Company's common shares. Repurchases will be made from time-to-time in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions based on prevailing market conditions and other factors. At September 30, 2007, there were 36,701,750 common shares outstanding. This authorization is in addition to the 2 million shares repurchase authorization approved by the Board of Directors in October 2005. As of October 18, 2007, the Company has purchased an aggregate 1,941,732 shares and 58,268 shares remain to be purchased under the 2005 authorization.
