Northern Power Systems (www.northernpower.com) (TSX: NPS), a next-generation
renewable energy technology company, has launched a new 60 kilowatt (kW)
permanent magnet/direct drive wind turbine, the NPS 60-24.

The unit has been specifically engineered for the Italian and other low wind
regime markets and can generate up to 15% more energy than the outgoing NPS
60-23. The blade and rotor have been redesigned to maximize annual energy
production (AEP), the new nacelle is 30% smaller, and an improved tower
configuration provides further operating efficiencies.

The NPS 60-24 is currently exclusively available in Italy. It has been designed
to meet local market requirements and government regulations to optimize revenue
generating capabilities for owners.

Locally based service teams will help ensure reliability as these new turbines
are added to Northern Power Systems' global fleet of 100kW and 60kW turbines.

The fleet has surpassed 5 million run time hours with over 99% grid-connected
median availability and zero incidents since its initial product introduction in
2008.

Reinout Oussoren, Northern Power Systems' VP of Global Sales, said, "In 2013,
the NPS 60-23 surpassed all previous sales records with triple digit orders
coming from the Italian market. Northern Power Systems currently has the largest
fleet of 60kW wind turbines in Italy and plans to further expand its market
leading position. The NPS 60-24 is designed to meet specific new needs and
customer expectations in the Italian market, while increasing the company's
addressable market and providing further opportunities for growth."
