In a bid to shore up operations with subcontractors in its remote oil fields, a leading oil company has turned to Wireless Matrix (TSX: WRX) to provide GPS location data and communications for an initial 200 subscribers.

Challenged in obtaining real-time GPS data for tracking workers in remote operational areas, the company selected Wireless Matrix for their integrated cellular and Wi-Fi communication platform and real-time data integration with back office systems. Under the terms of the agreement, Wireless Matrix will provide the company with integrated communications via the Communicator 300 device, as well as a data feed to the company's custom dispatching application.

The Communicator 300 will provide integrated GPS location data via cellular and Wi-Fi communications in supported areas. The Communicator 300 also provides the option for field upgradable satellite connectivity via the Wireless Matrix Satellite Data Modem 5000. This multi-mode option further eliminates out-of-coverage areas, allowing location data to be obtained throughout deployment areas.

In addition, the company will benefit from a web services data feed from Wireless Matrix's FleetOutlook vehicle management application. The data feed will seamlessly populate the company's in-house dispatching application with real-time vehicle location and status information.
