SSE PLC (SSE.LN) said Wednesday that its Chairman Richard Gillingwater will continue in his position, to depart no later than March 31, 2021.

The utility said it believes it is in shareholders' interest that the company keeps benefiting from Mr. Gillingwater's judgment. The time-limited extension allows effective succession plans to be implemented in order to advance an orderly transition, SSE said.

The company said it will begin the process of finding a new chairman in the course of the year.
