Airbus SE said Wednesday that a French tribunal mandated it to pay about 16 million euros ($16.5 million) in an anti-corruption probe related to its use of intermediaries in Libya and Kazakhstan prior to 2012.

The European plane maker struck a deal in 2020 with U.S., British and French prosecutors to settle alleged bribery and export-control violations. The 2020 charges also related to the company allegedly making illicit payments to intermediaries to secure contracts.

According to Airbus, today's agreement won't have any adverse impact on the settlements reached in 2020.

"The company has taken significant steps since 2016 to reform itself by implementing a benchmark compliance system underpinned by an unwavering commitment to integrity and continuous improvement," it said.
