Dow Jones News
1116 GMT - NatWest is among the most mentioned companies across
news items over the past six hours, while former Chief Executive
Alison Rose and Chair Howard Davies are among the most mentioned
executives, according to Factiva data. Rose stepped down earlier
this week following "a serious error of judgment" in talking to a
journalist about the decision by NatWest subsidiary Coutts to close
the account of ex-UKIP leader Nigel Farage. Meanwhile, Davies told
reporters in an earnings call on Friday that he intended to
continue to lead the board. Throughout the week, Farage has been
keeping up his attack on NatWest, calling for the whole board to
go. NatWest also said Friday that it has appointed a lawfirm to
undertake an independent review into Coutts' account closure
arrangements. "The scandal over confidentiality and the way it has
played out is a reminder to other investors that the Government
remains a major shareholder and, as such, has real influence on the
way the bank is run," AJ Bell's investment director Russ Mould
writes. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
