Bitfarms Ltd. (NASDAQ: BITF // TSX: BITF), a global Bitcoin
self-mining company, completed the second phase of its expansion of
The Bunker, providing an additional 18 megawatts (MW) of capacity
and boosting the Company’s corporate hashrate by 200 petahash per
second (PH/s) to a total of 3.8 exahash per second (EH/s). This
brings Bitfarms’ current production above 16 bitcoin (BTC) per day.
“Completing Phase 2 of The Bunker expansion is a
strategic milestone that contributed to growing our hashrate to 3.8
exahash per second (EH/s), up 5.5% from the beginning of July,”
said Geoff Morphy, President and COO of Bitfarms. “Together with an
additional 3 MW of low-cost hydropower that went online this month
at our mining facility in Washington state, our total operating
capacity is now 158 MW. Significantly, with our higher hashrate
came an increase in our current production to 16.8 BTC/day, a 15%
increase from 14.6 BTC/day at the end of June.”
“This past week, we have been selectively
redeploying some mining assets while continuing to bring new miners
online. Coupled with slight delays in receiving new mining
shipments, the net effect is we expect to experience a more gradual
increase in our hashrate and reach our 4 EH/s goal in early August.
In addition, we remain confident in executing our current
international growth plan and achieving 6 EH/s by year end,” added
Morphy.
The Bunker – Phase 2
Under Phase 2 of The Bunker expansion, miner
installations are in the process of completion and, to date, 9,450
miners have been installed. Together with Phase 1, which first
became operational in March 2022, this location is presently
operating at 36 MW and yielding 848 PH/s.
Phase 3 of The Bunker build-out, representing an
additional 12 MW, is underway. This phase is planned to hold
another 3,250 miners and produce approximately 325 PH/s with
completion expected later this year.
Adds 3 MW in Washington
State
In Washington state, Bitfarms continues to
benefit from low-cost hydropower and stable electricity rates. The
added 3 MW facility brings total production from our Washington
state farms to 20 MW. With low-cost electricity and a completely
upgraded fleet of miners, the Washington facilities have the lowest
production cost in our global portfolio.
