Seminole Tribe of Florida Adopts BOB and S2S Standards at Seminole
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino LAS VEGAS, Oct. 4
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Seminole Tribe of Florida has
announced it is implementing GSA's landmark Best of Breed (BOB) and
System-to-System (S2S) protocols at its Seminole Hard Rock Hotel
& Casino and Seminole Casino properties in Florida. The Tribe
selected GSA's BOB and S2S standard for the 6,000-game operation
because the Tribe wanted to have an open, non-proprietary standard
for its casinos. The implementation required manufacturers to
license GSA's standards. BOB and S2S standards are available free
of charge to its members and is also available for licensing to
non-members. Seminole Tribe Sr. Vice President of Information
Technology Lyle Bell said, "As operators, we believe open standards
are the right path for our future. Open standards give operators
incredible flexibility to serve customers in the best way they see
fit, without operators having to conform to manufacturers' protocol
demands. We are very pleased in particular that IGT licensed S2S
and will soon be connected to our Bally/SDG central determination
and TITO system as well as the Bally Casino Marketplace system."
GSA Board Chairman Gregg Solomon said, "Having the Seminole Tribe
select the BOB and S2S open standards sends a very positive signal
to the entire gaming industry that the time for standards has
arrived. The point that an operator took full control of their
gaming floor and required suppliers to meet operator demand is
significant and an encouraging forecast. In the near future, we can
expect more operators, such as Mandalay Resort Group, to embrace
open standards, controlling their gaming floors and serving their
customers better than ever before." BOB and S2S standardize
communication protocols, enabling machines and systems of different
manufacturers to communicate correctly with each other. BOB ensures
secure communication between gaming devices and gaming systems by
defining the application layer. S2S runs parallel to BOB, and
creates a standard where gaming and non-gaming systems from across
the casino/hotel can interface. About the Gaming Standards
