Chinese Biotech Company Pursues SARS Vaccine Among Others NEW YORK,
Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange(R) (Amex(R))
today listed the common stock of Sinovac Biotech Ltd. ("Sinovac")
under the ticker symbol "SVA". Sinovac is headquartered in Beijing,
China, and is the second Mainland China-based company to list on
the Amex this year, a result of the Amex's effort to actively seek
out equity listings from companies located in China and the Pacific
Rim region. As one of the leading emerging biotechnology companies
in China, Sinovac specializes in research and development,
commercialization and sales of human vaccines for infectious
illnesses such as hepatitis A, hepatitis B, influenza and "SARS."
Sinovac is the first and, currently, the only company in the world
to be conducting clinical trials for a vaccine to prevent SARS. "We
are quite pleased to welcome Sinovac to the Amex," John McGonegal,
senior vice president of the Amex Equities Group, said. "Sinovac
joins a growing and strong-performing roster of pharmaceutical,
biotech and medical device companies that list their shares here
and we look forward to working with the company in support of its
effort to reach new investors and develop a broad following in the
U.S. investment community." "We look forward to introducing our
company more broadly to U.S. investors and can think of no better
platform for our shares than the American Stock Exchange," Sinovac
President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Weidong Yin said. The
specialist in Sinovac is AIM Specialists. For further information
