SGI Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Bob Bishop to Receive
Honorary Doctorate From University of Queensland SYDNEY, Australia
and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bob
Bishop, distinguished Australian computing science expert and the
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Graphics
(NYSE:SGI), will receive a Doctor of Science honoris causa at a
University of Queensland graduation ceremony on December 15. Mr.
Bishop is one of seven prominent Australians who will receive
honorary doctorates from the University of Queensland. Mr. Bishop's
distinguished career in computing science spans four decades,
commencing in 1964 when he worked as a scientist with Ultrasound
and NMR in Australia. Mr. Bishop held senior management positions
with Apollo Computer Incorporated and Digital Equipment Corporation
before joining SGI in 1986 as founding president of SGI's World
Trade Corporation, and in 1999 was appointed to his current
position as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. SGI is a
leading provider of high-performance computing, visualization and

Sciences & Architecture at 11 a.m., December 15, at the UQ
