Alcatel Innovative Broadband Access Diagnostic Tool Now Available to North American Service Providers

PR Newswire (US)
CHICAGO, June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alcatel (NYSE: ALA;
Paris: CGEP.PA) today announced the North American availability of
its 5530 Network Analyzer (NA), an advanced DSL diagnostic,
optimization and analysis software tool. The Alcatel 5530 NA
provides proactive quality management and expert diagnostics to
continuously ensure the quality of services delivered over
broadband access lines. Alcatel specifically designed the 5530 NA
as a multi-vendor solution to support the successful deployment of
value-added triple play broadband access services. "With strong
customer demands in a quality sensitive environment, it is
essential for us to be able to diagnose, analyze and resolve
network problems quickly in order to improve service quality and
reduce customer care costs," said Mats Sandvik, CEO Ventelo Sweden.
"Our subscribers demand high service quality and expect quick
problem resolution, and with the implementation of Alcatel's
Network Analyzer we have been able to not only meet this demand,
but exceed customer expectations." In the race to ramp-up their
market share, service providers have tried to differentiate mainly
on access speeds and compelling new services such as IPTV. In doing
so, they realize that service quality is a major consideration as
increased bandwidth and service demand continue to push DSL lines
to their limits -- impacting service quality and operational costs.
The Alcatel 5530 Network Analyzer is unique in that it is a
real-time automated troubleshooting tool that continually monitors
network performance and is capable of detecting faults before
customers see them. With the Network Analyzer, service providers
are able to reduce operational costs while providing their
customers with the highest level of service. "As the world leader
in broadband access products and solutions, Alcatel has a deep
understanding of the operational challenges our customers face,"
commented Mike Dobbs, senior vice president of Alcatel's access
network activities in North America. "This innovative software tool
translates into concrete operational benefits for our customers,
including reduced operations cost, shorter problem resolution time
and improved customer satisfaction." More than 20 service providers
have already realized the benefits of the Alcatel 5530 Network
Analyzer, including KPN (Netherlands), Iceland Telecom, Shaanxi
Telecom (China) and Scarlet (Belgium and the Netherlands). Alcatel
will be providing a demonstration of the 5530 Network Analyzer
during Globalcomm at the Alcatel booth, number 51018. About Alcatel
