PR Newswire (US)
SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., July 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Science Applications International Corporation [NYSE: SAI] today
announced that the restructuring of AMSEC LLC has been completed.
Previously, AMSEC was jointly owned by SAIC and Northrop Grumman
Corporation [NYSE: NOC]. The restructuring divided AMSEC along
customer and product lines, with parts of AMSEC being distributed
to SAIC. Under this restructuring, SAIC received the aviation,
combat systems and strike force integration services businesses
from AMSEC. These businesses include AMSEC's former subsidiary
Eagan, McAllister Associates, Inc. (EMA), a command, control,
communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and
reconnaissance, information technology and naval aviation support
services firm. In addition, SAIC retained AMSEC's former Strike
Force Systems and Integration (SSI)/Planning Consultants, Inc.
(PCI) organization, which provides support to a number of major
Navy customers in the areas of combat systems (including Aegis),
integration, training and engineering. EMA is now a wholly owned
subsidiary of SAIC within the Command, Control, Communications,
Computers and Information Technology Business Unit, and SSI/PCI is
now an integrated operation in the Naval and Maritime Solutions
Business Unit. These actions align the core capabilities of these
operations with those of SAIC's business units. "We wish our former
team members from AMSEC much success with Northrop Grumman," said
Deborah Alderson, president of SAIC's Defense Solutions Group. "We
now move to the future focusing on our expertise in systems
engineering and integration, command, control and communications
and enterprise solutions." Since June 1999, AMSEC had been a
limited liability company jointly owned by SAIC and Northrop
Grumman. Prior to that, AMSEC was a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC
since 1987, and has been in existence since 1981. Throughout its
history, AMSEC has provided various engineering and technical
services to the U.S. government and the commercial maritime
industry. SAIC is a leading provider of scientific, engineering,
systems integration and technical services and solutions to all
branches of the U.S. military, agencies of the Department of
Defense, the intelligence community, the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security and other U.S. Government civil agencies, as well
as to customers in selected commercial markets. With more than
44,000 employees in over 150 cities worldwide, SAIC engineers and
scientists solve complex technical challenges requiring innovative
solutions for customers' mission-critical functions. SAIC had
annual revenues of $8.3 billion for its fiscal year ended January
31, 2007. SAIC: FROM SCIENCE TO SOLUTIONS(TM) Statements in this
