NOTIFICATION OF THE SUSPENSION OF SHARE AND CANCELLATION OF THE SECONDARY
LISTING OF ZCI ON THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE

The Directors wish to announce that pursuant to the shareholders' approval of
the transaction with Vedanta Resources Plc ("Vedanta"), Vedanta will effectively
acquire  sufficient  new Konkola Copper Mine Plc ("KCM") ordinary  shares,  such
that Vedanta obtains a 51% interest in KCM.  Accordingly, ZCI's interest in KCM,
ZCI's only material asset, will reduce from 58% to 28.4%.

While ZCI's primary listing on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange ("JSE")  and
its  secondary  listing on the Paris Bourse will continue, the transaction  will
impact  ZCI  in  respect  of  the conditions for listing  on  the  London  Stock
Exchange, ("LSE"), as described in Chapter 3 of the Listings Requirements of the
UK  Listing  Authority ("UKLA"), specifically rule 3.6(a). As a  result  of  the
transaction  and  in terms of rule 3.6(a), ZCI will no longer  exercise  control
over a majority of its assets and is obliged to cancel its listing on the London
Stock  Exchange. ZCI's registered shareholders were notified of this  obligation
to  cancel the Company's secondary listing on the LSE in the circular posted  on
11 October 2004.

In  terms of FSA Listing Rule 1.21, 20 business days notice is required  of  any
intended  cancellation. The expected completion date of  the  transaction  is  4
November  2004,  which is the date on which ZCI will no longer exercise  control
over a majority of its assets.

Consequently, ZCI is obliged in terms of the FSA Listing Rules, to  suspend  the
share  with effect from 07h30 GMT on Thursday 4 November 2004 and to cancel  the
secondary  listing of ZCI's ordinary shares on the London Stock  Exchange,  with
effect from 08h00 GMT on Thursday 2 December 2004.
