The Board of MTL Instruments Group plc ("MTL" or the "Company") announces that 
Mr S J Cockrell retired from the Board with effect from 31 December 2006, having
served as an executive director from 1988 to 1999 and as a non-executive 
Director since 2001.   As a non-executive director, he also served as chairman 
of the Company's Audit Committee.  Mr T M Lazenby will take over Mr Cockrell's 
Audit Committee responsibilities with immediate effect.

The Board would like to express its thanks to Mr Cockrell for his contribution 
to MTL over many years and wishes him well for the future.
