Severn Trent Plc confirms
record fifth year of 4-star EPA status
Severn Trent Plc are delighted to
confirm today that Severn Trent Water has been
awarded the highest-possible 4-star status in the Environment
Agency's 2023 Environmental Performance Assessment ('EPA'). This
award extends Severn Trent's status as the only company to have
achieved five consecutive years of 'industry-leading' environmental
status.
The EPA is a tool used by the
Environment Agency to assess and compare the performance of water
companies in England. In order to drive improvements in
environmental standards, the assessment rightly tightens each year.
We are pleased to have maintained the highest-possible 4-star
status for a fifth consecutive year against these increasingly
stretching targets.
After six months of the current
period we are on track for a sixth consecutive year of 4-star
environmental performance, which would mean we have achieved the
highest possible environmental rating for every year of
AMP7.
Further information on the
Environmental Performance Assessment and individual metrics can be
found at:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/water-and-sewerage-companies-in-england-environmental-performance-report-2023.
We remain on track to deliver the most ambitious
storm overflow improvement plan in the sector, with our teams
delivering interventions daily to improve 900 storm overflows this
year alone. The work we have completed so far gives us confidence
that we will be able to halve our spills rate by
2030.
PR24 Draft Determination Presentation
We have also released a presentation
this morning giving more detail on the Draft Determination we
received from Ofwat on 11 July, which assessed our business plan to
be Outstanding. The presentation is available on our website
(www.severntrent.com).
You will also be able to register online via the same link for two
live Q&A sessions we are hosting at 2pm BST and 10pm BST today
with Liv Garfield, CEO, Helen Miles, CFO, and Shane Anderson,
Director of Strategy and Regulation.
