Analog Devices Inc. said its profit and sales for the fiscal third quarter rose as it saw strong bookings across end markets.

The semiconductor company on Wednesday posted net income of $503.3 million, compared with $362.7 million in the year-ago period. Earnings were $1.35 a share, compared with 97 cents a share in the prior year.

Adjusted earnings were $1.72 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting $1.62 a share.

Revenue for the three months ended July 31 rose to $1.76 billion from $1.46 billion. Analysts were looking for $1.71 billion.

"The economic recovery continues to take shape with demand still far exceeding supply," President and Chief Executive Vincent Roche said.
