Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB) announced Tuesday that it has acquired
Gushor Inc., a Canadian geochemistry company that supports
exploration and production companies working with heavy oil and oil
sands.
Gushor, based in Calgary, analyzes the properties of crude oil
to help exploration and production companies be more effective in
extracting it. The company, formed in 2006 at the University of
Calgary, specializes in production of heavy oil and oil sands crude
and has worked on projects around the world.
Oilfield-services companies help exploration and production
companies with the specialized and often highly technical work of
producing oil and gas from different types of reservoirs.
Schlumberger is the world's largest oilfield-services company.
"The addition of Gushor will enable us to better support our
E&P customers by complementing our leading fluids and rocks
technology portfolio with geochemical and fluid property analysis
capabilities," said Sameh Hanna, Schlumberger's president for
testing services.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
