Movistar Uruguay, the mobile operator of the Telefonica Moviles group in Uruguay, has selected Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY) as sole supplier for its GSM and transmission network. The operator will be able to offer more advanced features and innovative services to its customers. Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide a complete new GSM network, including EDGE-ready GSM/GPRS 850MHz radio access and core networks and related services. Ericsson will also enhance Movistar's access transmission network with MINI-LINK microwave transmission. It includes high-capacity radios and smart traffic nodes, together with implementation and professional services.
