Guilford Pharmaceuticals Announces Craig R. Smith, M.D. Will Retire as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer BALTIMORE, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:GLFD) today announced that Craig R. Smith, M.D. will retire as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. The Board of Directors has begun a search for a successor. Dr. Smith will remain Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer until the date of the Company's next Annual Meeting, unless a successor is identified earlier. After his retirement Dr. Smith will continue as a member of the Board of Directors and will serve as a consultant to the Company for at least one year.
