Insurer climbs five spots on Computerworld's annual listing of top
companies for IT professionals COLUMBUS, Ga., June 17 /PRNewswire/
-- Aflac today announced that IDG's Computerworld, the voice of IT
management, has again selected the company as one of the top
workplaces for information technology professionals. This insurer
ranked No. 29 on this year's list, up five places from last year,
and has appeared on the list 10 times. This honor is part of the
weekly publication's 16th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey
and is published in the June 15 issue of Computerworld and online
at Computerworld.com. "Aflac is extremely proud to be repeatedly
recognized as an employer of choice for IT professionals," said
Gerald Shields, Aflac senior vice president and chief information
officer. "We thank Computerworld for this honor and are especially
grateful to Aflac's team of professionals, who consistently strive
for excellence and innovation. They create a winning formula that
provides quality service to our customers and support for our sales
force." In ranking Aflac in the upper tier of its coveted list,
Computerworld cited the amount of time invested in training and the
large number of women and minorities within the company's IT ranks.
Since 1994, Computerworld's annual Best Places to Work in IT
feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology
professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire about company
offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career
development, training and retention. In addition, this year
Computerworld surveyed more than 27,000 IT workers for the list,
and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.
