PARIS, October 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Saint-Gobain has inaugurated its first plasterboard plant in
Indonesia, near Jakarta. With an annual capacity of 30 million
square meters, this new production site will enable the company to
respond better to local demand and continue the Group's growth on
the rapidly growing Indonesian plasterboard market. This investment
will also strengthen the Gypsum Activity's presence in Southeast Asia where it already has four other
plants in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Saint-Gobain will soon have six plants in Indonesia for its Abrasives, Industrial
Mortars and Performance Plastics businesses. The automotive glass
business recently announced that it is investing in a first plant
in partnership with Central Glass.
Given its strong growth potential, the resilience and size of
the country's domestic demand, the vigor of its construction sector
and strength of its automotive industry, Indonesia plays a key role in the Group's
strategic development in Southeast
Asia.
