Healthy RAJAR for SRH
The radio industry audience figures released today continue to demonstrate the
dominance that the company's Scottish and Northern Ireland stations have within
their markets.
Glasgow's Radio Clyde, which has outstripped all rivals since its inception, has
maintained its market share of 28%, and it is worth noting that its nearest
rival breakfast programme on BBC Radio 2 still only manages half of Clyde's
audience, with commercial competition well behind that.
As always, there were some modest rises and falls, with Downtown in Northern
Ireland and Northsound in Aberdeen increasing market share, while Forth in
Edinburgh slipped back a little but remains ahead of the same period last year.
The company's more recent acquisitions have performed well, with Wave 105 in the
Solent area increasing its market share, along with Vibe FM in East Anglia. In
Bristol and the South West, Vibe 101 held its market share. In both cases, this
is a significant achievement during a period of complete re-organisation
following the demise of the joint venture with GWR.
SRH Chief Executive, Richard Findlay, commented:
"Here at SRH we are generally pleased with the overall performance and
particularly gratified that our three new regional stations in England are
making such good progress."
