Somerfield plc announces that on 13 January 2004, 11,201 Ordinary Shares of 10p
each in the Company were transferred by Somerfield QUEST Limited, as trustee of
the Somerfield plc Qualifying Employee Share Ownership Trust, to satisfy
options exercised by employees under the Company Approved Savings-Related Share
Option Scheme (1996). As a result of this transfer J von Spreckelsen, S Back, M
Oakes, R Whitbread, B Williams and G Wotherspoon who are potential
beneficiaries of the trust, ceased to have an interest in those 11,201 Ordinary
Shares of 10p each in the Company.
