ARLINGTON, Va., April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF) will present Dr. Stephanie A. Burns, chairman, president and CEO of Dow Corning Corporation, headquartered in Midland, MI, with the prestigious Vanguard Award in a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. on April 24. The Vanguard Award is a prestigious national award recognizing leadership, community service, and educational outreach on behalf of the chemical industry. With Burns' support, the Dow Corning Foundation introduced an annual "Teacher Innovation Awards" program in school districts located near the company's U.S. facilities. The Awards encourage educators to submit creative teaching projects related to math and science. In its third year, the program has awarded more than fifty $1,000 grants to local elementary, middle and high school teachers.
