Corning Industrializes ColdForm™ Technology to Enable Automotive Displays of the Future
07 Janeiro 2020 - 6:00PM
Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced the industrialization of
its patented Corning® ColdForm™ Technology for curved automotive
display systems. Driven by consumer demand for more in-car
infotainment and connectivity, ColdForm Technology enables larger,
curved, and more integrated displays designs.
To further technology adoption, Corning is collaborating with
Visteon Corporation (NASDAQ: VC), a global leader in automotive
cockpit electronics technology, including digital multi-display
modules.
“Today’s most innovative automotive interior designs require
sophisticated technologies, materials, and manufacturing systems,”
said Mike Kunigonis, vice president and general manager, Corning
Automotive Glass Solutions. “We’re working with Visteon, a market
and innovation leader in digital clusters and multi-display
modules, to commercialize Corning’s patented ColdForm Technology
for the automotive industry. We’re excited that our advanced
technical glass and innovative shaping processes will help deliver
the most economical and highest quality curved display
systems.”
Qais M. Sharif, global vice president, display product line at
Visteon, added, “The digital cockpit is evolving into a
multi-display and interactive environment driving electronics
complexity and cost. This poses new challenges and opportunities
for product design and engineering to deliver the enhanced user
experience of the future. Applying Corning’s ColdForm Technology
supports our goal to deliver the industry’s highest quality curved
display modules for digital clusters and integrated center stack
applications, as cost-efficiently as possible.”
The evolution of automotive interior and display design is
accelerating to meet the demand for multiple large, integrated, and
advanced displays. Corning’s patented ColdForm Technology helps
ecosystem partners, such as Visteon, unlock new curved design
possibilities while delivering significant cost savings versus
conventional hot-formed glass processing.
